 The festival of Dussehra marks the victory of truth over untruth and the victory of good over evil.  On this day, Mahishasura was killed by Maa Durga in a 10-day war and Lord Rama conquered Lanka by killing Ravana.  For this reason, Shastra Puja, Durga Puja, Ram Puja and Shami Puja have significance on this day.  Because of both these events, this festival is celebrated as Vijayadashami.  The idol of Maa Durga is immersed on this day.  Along with this, reciting Chandi Path or Durga Saptashati and performing Havan has special significance on this day.


Dussehra worship method


 It is best to worship Dussehra in the afternoon.  On this day, eight lotus petals are made in the north-east corner of the house.  After this, one should chant the mantra Aparajitaya Namah in the middle of the Ashtadal and worship Lord Rama along with Maa Durga.  After this, place Mata Jaya on the right and Vijaya on the left.  Now offer roli, akshat, flowers etc. to the mother and offer her bhog.  Do the aarti of the mother and also shout.  In some places 9 balls and 2 bowls are made from cow dung.  Put coins in one of these bowls and the other roli, rice, barley and fruits.  After this, offer barley, banana, radish and jaggery etc. to the idol.  If you are worshiping books or weapons, then keep these things at the place of worship and apply Roli and Akshat on them too.  After this, give donations and dakshina according to the power and must provide food to the poor and the needy.  If Ravana is burnt in the evening, then give Shami leaves to your family members, then touch the feet of the elders of the house and seek blessings from them.
